Vincent Van Gogh « Almond Blossom » – 1889 – Poster

Van Gogh was inspired by Japanese art to paint this painting, it was dedicated to his brother Theo's son who had just been born and of whom he is the godfather. To symbolize this new life, Vincent chose to represent the branches of an almond tree, one of the earliest trees in spring which, in February already, is adorned with flowers to announce its arrival.

Vincent Van Gogh « Amandier en fleurs » - 1889

Van Gogh s'inspira de l'art japonais pour peindre ce tableau, il était dédié au fils de son frère Théo qui venait de naître et dont il est le parrain. Pour symboliser cette nouvelle vie, Vincent choisit de représenter les branches d'un amandier, l'un des arbres les plus précoces au printemps qui, en février déjà, se pare de fleurs pour en annoncer l'arrivée.
